Web design for plumbers who need more calls, not more faff

My web design for plumbers puts the phone number, your Gas Safe details and your service area exactly where panicked homeowners look for them. Unlike most designers, I plan the pages from search data first, a habit from my SEO work, so "boiler repair" and "blocked drain" each get a page that can rank in your area. It is an affordable, fast website that turns "burst pipe, help" searches into calls.

Two kinds of visitor

Your website has to serve a panic and a plan at the same time.

Visitor one · water on the floor

"I need someone now."

They are stressed, on a phone, maybe standing in a puddle. They want to know three things: do you cover their area, can you come today, and how do they reach you. Anything else slows them down.

What they need to see: a tap-to-call button, your area, "same-day callouts" if you offer them, and your callout fee or how you charge.

Visitor two · planning a new boiler

"Who can I trust with this?"

They are comparing three or four plumbers over a few days. They read. They check reviews. They want to understand brands, warranties, timings and roughly what it costs.

What they need to see: clear explanations, photos of finished installs, manufacturer accreditations and a calm way to request a quote.

Most plumber websites serve neither properly. I design the home page for visitor one and give visitor two dedicated pages they can take their time with.

What goes on the site

What a plumbing website actually needs

No filler pages, no "welcome to our website". Just the sections that answer a plumbing customer's real questions.

  • A sticky call button on mobileAlways visible, always one tap. For emergency plumbers this is the most important element on the site.
  • Emergency or same-day pageWhat you handle, when you are available and how you charge out of hours. Honest wording beats "24/7" if you are not.
  • Boiler installation and servicingBrands you fit, warranty lengths, typical timescales and whether you offer finance.
  • Bathrooms and larger jobsA gallery of finished work, with a sentence on each job: where, what, how long.
  • Service area, shown clearlyA simple map or postcode districts. No keyword-stuffed list of forty towns.
  • Prices or how you quoteA callout fee, a "from" price for services, or a plain explanation of how quotes work.
  • Reviews that sound realPulled from Google or a trade platform, with the reviewer's area and the job type where possible.
  • A photo optionMany customers can describe a problem better with a photo. A "send us a photo on WhatsApp" link often beats a long form.

Proof that matters to homeowners

People let you into their home. Give them reasons to.

Trust signals only work when they are specific. A badge wall means little. A registration number someone can check means a lot.

Gas Safe registrationYour number and a note that customers can check it. Legally essential for gas work, and reassuring for everything else.
Manufacturer accreditationsIf you are an approved installer for a boiler brand, say so and explain what it means for the warranty.
Insurance and guaranteesPublic liability cover and any guarantee on your work, stated plainly.
Real photosYour van, your team, your finished work. Even phone photos beat stock images of strangers.
Reviews with detail"Fixed our leak the same afternoon in Bishopston" persuades far more than a five-star logo on its own.

Showing up locally

Most plumbing work starts with "plumber near me".

For a plumber, the map results on Google often matter more than the normal listings underneath. Those map results lean on your Google Business Profile, your reviews, and how well your website backs them up.

So I make sure your website and your profile agree: the same business name, number, address or service area, and the same list of services. Each main service gets its own page, with a title and description written for the search it targets.

I add LocalBusiness schema so search engines read your details without guessing, and I keep pages fast, because slow sites lose impatient visitors and rankings alike.

If you choose Website + Visibility, I also guide you through your Google Business Profile, set up call and form tracking, and leave you a short plan of the next pages worth adding. It is SEO website design applied to a plumbing business.

Working with a busy plumber

Calls at sensible times

I know you are under a sink at 10am. We can talk early, late or at lunch, and I keep the call to about twenty minutes.

Voice notes welcome

Rather talk than type? Answer my questions by voice note between jobs and I will turn them into copy.

Photos from your phone

Send me pictures of recent jobs as you go. I will pick the best, tidy them up and write the captions.

Questions

Questions plumbers ask me

Something specific about your business? Drop me a line.
Should my phone number be at the top of every page?

Yes. On a phone it should be one tap away at all times, usually as a button in the header. People with a leak do not scroll looking for your number. They ring the first plumber who makes it easy.

Do I need separate pages for emergencies and boiler installs?

I recommend it. They attract different people with different questions. The emergency page is short, urgent and all about response. The boiler page can explain brands, warranties and finance calmly. One combined page usually serves neither well.

How do I show I am Gas Safe registered on my website?

Show the Gas Safe logo, your registration number and a line explaining that customers can check it on the Gas Safe Register. It reassures people and it is a genuine safety point, not just decoration.

Should I list every town I cover?

Not as a long block of town names. That looks spammy to Google and to customers. I usually show your core area clearly, with a map or postcode districts, and only build separate area pages where you genuinely have something specific to say.

I get most of my work from Checkatrade or similar sites. Do I need a website?

Lead platforms can be useful, but you pay for every lead or every month, and you compete on the same page as your rivals. Your own website is where people land after they hear your name or search for you directly. It is also the one channel you fully control.

How much does a plumber website cost?

A single-page Starter Website starts at £590. A Business Website with separate pages for emergencies, boilers and bathrooms starts at £1,250. Website + Visibility, with local SEO and Google Business Profile guidance, starts at £1,750.
