Websites for the trades

Web design for tradesmen that helps people trust you before they call

My web design for tradesmen turns your best work into a website that makes people comfortable ringing a stranger. The difference is that I also handle the search side, using what I do every day at Found First, so people who need your trade in your area find you before they find the directory sites. Real photos, honest words and a phone number always in reach, affordable, fixed-price and written for you, so you can stay on the tools.

The three worries

Every homeowner has the same three worries.

They have heard the stories. Before they call, your website needs to answer these quietly, without you ever having to say "we are not cowboys".

01

"Will they turn up?"

Answer it with how you book work in, how you confirm dates and what happens if a job overruns. Reliability is a promise you can describe, not just claim.

02

"Will they leave a mess?"

Answer it with photos of finished rooms, tidy sites and a line about dust sheets, clearing up and removing waste. Pictures do most of the work here.

03

"Is the price fair?"

Answer it with how you quote, whether quotes are free, what is included and how you handle surprises once walls come down. Openness reads as honesty.

Your own site vs lead platforms

Paying for every lead gets expensive.

Checkatrade, MyBuilder, Rated People and similar sites can be useful, especially when you are starting out. But you pay for every lead or every month, and you appear on the same screen as five rivals, all competing on price.

Your own website works differently. When someone searches for your trade and town, or hears your name from a neighbour, they land somewhere that is entirely about you. No competitors in the sidebar. No fee per enquiry.

I am not suggesting you cancel everything tomorrow. A good website simply gives you a channel you own, and in my experience that changes how much you need the others.

What I build

The parts of a trade website that bring work

Whether you fit kitchens, plaster walls or build extensions, these are the sections I plan first.

  • A gallery with contextNot just photos, but a line on each: the job, the area, how long it took. Context turns a nice picture into proof.
  • One page per serviceKitchens, staircases, extensions or whatever you do most. Each one can rank for its own search.
  • Where you workYour core area, stated plainly near the top. Customers will not ring if they think you are too far away.
  • How you quoteFree site visit or not, how long quotes take, what they include. It removes an awkward first question.
  • Insurance and membershipsPublic liability, TrustMark, trade bodies and guarantees, shown where they reassure most.
  • A human about pageWho you are, how long you have done this, who else is on the team. People hire people.

Fitting around your week

You stay on the tools. I do the rest.

I have built the process around people who work with their hands all day and do admin at 9pm.

  1. 01

    A 20-minute call

Early morning, lunch or evening. You talk about your work; I take notes.

  2. 02

    Voice notes and photos

Answer a few follow-up questions by voice note and send photos from your phone.

  3. 03

    I write and design

You get the full site to check on your phone, in your own time.

  4. 04

    Live and working

I connect your domain, test the call button and forms, and hand it over.

Questions

Questions from the trades

Your trade not listed? Ask me anyway.
Which trades do you build websites for?

Any trade where customers need to trust you before they call: joiners, builders, decorators, tilers, kitchen fitters, plasterers, handymen, heating engineers and more. I have dedicated pages for plumbers, electricians, roofers, landscapers and construction firms.

Most of my work is word of mouth. Why do I need a website?

Because word of mouth now includes a quick search. When a neighbour recommends you, the next thing most people do is look you up. A clear, professional site confirms the recommendation. No site, or a poor one, makes them wonder.

Can the website reduce what I spend on lead sites?

It can reduce your reliance on them over time. Lead platforms charge per lead or per month and put you next to competitors. A website that ranks for your trade and town brings enquiries that are yours alone. Many trades keep both and shift the balance gradually.

I am rubbish at writing. Is that a problem?

Not at all. I ask you questions on a short call, or by voice note if that is easier, and I write everything. You just check it sounds like you.

How much does a website for a tradesman cost?

A one-page Starter Website starts at £590, a Business Website with separate service pages starts at £1,250, and Website + Visibility with local SEO starts at £1,750. The price is fixed before any work starts.
